Christian Cleutinx joined CIEP in 2011.
Christian Cleutinx, a Belgian, is an international expert in energy security, diplomacy and international dialogues with 30 plus years of experience in geopolitics, international relations and energy with a special emphasis on Russia and the United States.
Work Experience
1975-2011: European Commission; several functions in the field of energy policy.
1982-1986: in charge of industrial policy, antitrust, transport, environment and energy at the Delegation of the European Commission in Washington DC.
2000-2008: EU-Russia Energy Dialogue.
2002-2003: sherpa to the strengthening of the energy cooperation between the EU and the United States.
2003-2008: director within the Directorate General for Energy and Transport of the European Commission, being first in charge of conventional energies including the internal energy market 2008-2011: Commission's Nuclear Safeguards Directorate in charge of nuclear nonproliferation and Director General of the Euratom Supply Agency, Luxemburg.
Education
MBA degree as well as Master Degrees in Economics and Finance.
